Roselle is an annual or perennial herb or subshrub, is a plant of hibiscus family. The flowers are light pink in colour.Its red calyxes are used to make jelly, jams, juices, squash etc

The flowers/calyxes are rich in poly phenolic compounds, anthocyanin and some important vitamins and minerals. Seeds are rich in antioxidants. Almost all parts of roselle plant are edible – flower, calyx, leaves. The plant is also cultivated for it’s fibre  in natural fibre industries

Roselle is also known as rosella, Jamaican sorrel, Pundi soppu (Kannada), Gongura (Telugu), Ambadi (Hindi)
