Jaboticaba Phitrantha ESALQ Fruit Plant

Plinia phitrantha ESALQ (or ESALQ Red Jaboticaba) is a specific, popular cultivar of jaboticaba (Plinia phitrantha) known for its large, sweet fruits and relatively quick fruiting time compared to other varieties. It is named after the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture at the University of São Paulo (USP) in Brazil. This cultivar was studied by botanist and agronomist João Rodrigues de Mattos in the 1970s and has since become a popular cultivar due to its characteristics. The tree produces 3+ cm. fruits with large seeds and excellent sweet flavor. Fruits at 4-7 years old.  38% pulp by weight.  Brix Range from 11-13 for a sample of fruit picked a bit early.
